Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are Bilingual First Graders who are full of energy. The students have adapted to the challenges thrown at them this year and are not only surviving but thriving in this very different post pandemic covid 19 environment. My students come from very diverse backgrounds. They love reading diverse books, participating in maker space activities, hands on math and science lessons and STEM challenges and are very curious. I have a large population of English language learners. They are eager to learn and enjoy every minute of it. My students are both general and special education students. They are all amazing kids!
For Career Day, each class transforms their room into a different profession and learns and teachers other classes all about it.
The register, cart, play food, and play money will allow our students to learn about the different jobs in a supermarket through playing. Students will be able to increase their language by being free to communicate and be themselves in an environment free from judgement and assessments.
After Career Day, these materials will allow me to add to our current rotation of different activities and games that the children can enjoy and at the same time let them express themselves, learner variability and free their imagination.
