Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I am requesting playdough and playdough accessories for my students. Playdough is not just a fun molding play activity. Playdough can be used for literacy, language development, mathematical learning, science exploration, fine motor development, social and emotional development, creativity and imagination.

In my classroom my ultimate goal is to cultivate a fun learning environment that is stress free, relaxing, and fun.

I would like to mask learning with playdough fun. When learning letters, I can create worksheets where students can mold each letter to help form words. When learning math, students can create manipulatives to help with counting. Students can explore the concept of shape, size and quantity while molding and shaping the dough. When learning science, students can experiment with different textures, colors and consistencies. When developing fine motor development, students can manipulate by squeezing, rolling and pinching. I can also use playdough as a sensory item to help with dysregulation of my special needs students.
