Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a wonderful school with excited, motivated students. They always inspire me with their love of learning. Our school has a majority of high socioeconomically disadvantaged children. We are a Title I school with many cultures represented (mostly Latino and Vietnamese). Many of these students live in neighborhoods that tend to be unsafe and underprivileged which causes a lack of opportunities.
I truly believe in our motto of "preparing all children as global learners." I hope to give these students as many resources as they may need in order to become successful both in and outside of the classroom.

My Project
To make learning more engaging I have the students make interactive notebooks out of composition books for Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. The students make reference pages and color coded examples with markers and colored pencils to help them organize and understand concepts in these subjects. We insert many resources into the notebooks that help them to understand and focus on various academic standards.
These composition books are very beneficial and they make learning more interactive.
These notebooks become resources for the whole school year. The students continually go back in their notebooks when reviewing or studying specific concepts. If they can't remember how to do something they have a place where they can go to refresh their brain. These books become an amazing resource that benefits the students.
