Learning Through Fairy Tales is Fairy Effective!

Help me give my students STEM fairy tale units to facilitate speech and language through problem solving, hands-on manipulatives, and narratives in my special education classroom!

My Project

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist who teaches special education students in 2 functional skills classrooms. Learning a primary language is most effective in context, with hands-on experience. Stories create learning situations that allow minds to reach beyond prior experiences and problem-solve in creative ways. This instructional design technique allows students to identify with a theme or character and increase information retention.

These Fairy Tales STEAM Kits combine classic stories with hands-on STEM, language, and literacy activities that students love!

As the children read the stories with me, animate the puppets and complete each STEM challenge, they will practice receptive and expressive language, and even accomplish early engineering concepts. These kits feature books, storytelling aids and exciting STEM activities.
