This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My teaching assistants and team sports class consist of 11th and 12th graders. We learn the ​life skills of being healthy and fit. We play various team sports chosen by the students. Our popular sports are softball, flag football, lacrosse, and speedball. Students are energetic and dedicated to burning off energy during this class. Everyone plays hard and learns the importance of teamwork. We appreciate each other in class and learn to make lasting friendships. My students love this elective class. They choose to be there.

My Project

My TAs and students have enjoyed the art of drinking coffee with me. I share with them different techniques for making coffee. It's become a bonding experience with my students. We currently have an espresso machine in the locker room. This requested coffee maker will allow my students to make espressos. Students are enjoying bringing their own beans and sharing their coffee for all. This is an excellent way to teach them about coffee. Many have even commented on wanting to work at a coffee place in town. Students have ample opportunity to learn and grow from each other. The students learn key skills in communication and holding a conversation. Coffee has made a huge impact on my students. I would like to continue their love of coffee through an after school club teaching them these techniques.
