My Students

We are wonderfully diverse learners from many different backgrounds, family structures, and socioeconomic levels. We work hard, every day! If you asked a student to describe our school they would likely say that it is a welcome place where the teachers and staff love each student and the unique gifts that each brings to the community. More than 70% of our students receive free or reduced meals and need different support programs to meet their basic needs. Even with these potential barriers, they rise above them and thrive in the learning environment we have so carefully created.

My Project

Students work best when their physical comfort needs are met. By making many different seating options and learning spaces available around the classroom, students have a choice of where and how they will work. By being physically comfortable, they stay on task for longer periods of time. Some examples of these flexible seating options are lap desks for students to use while sitting on the floor; stools without backs for students who need to move more but be seated while working; support pillows for students who like to lean against a wall to be comfortable while working; and the list goes on!
