This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This coming school year I will be teaching a group of kindergarten students and having a learning space of their own is very important. This will be an area where they will come together for lessons, sing along, read aloud, and learn about personal space.

I work in a great place with lots of talented teachers.

People that go above and beyond everyday for every single student. Students that unfortunately may have not experienced much, may not have much, and are considered low income/high risk students. Some of the students that come to my classroom may not have toys of their own, clothe of their own, or even a house of their own. With a piece of furniture such as a carpet, I would be able to provide a learning space of their own. A place that they would come and sit and just have their minds broaden with knowledge. Many of the students that come through my door just want to be accepted, cared for, and loved. They are eager to learn, please and succeed. I have parents that want their children to learn so that they will be able to prosper and not have the same hardships that they had.

My Project

Having a carpet in my classroom would provide a learning space for every student in my classroom. It would be placed in front of the morning routine board and projector screens. Every students will be able to come back to a specific square and that will be their learning space.

They would come and sit in their own space for lessons and morning routines.

They would also learn about personal space which is very important for kindergarten students. Learning to not violate others around them by keeping hands and feet to themselves.
