My Students

Help! Materials needed to investigate matter and light!

My students are the typical Fifth grade student, just beginning to be interested in science.

Our school is a rural public school in the South. Although the community is relatively small, the district covers a large area serving over 200 students in the Fifth Grade alone. Many of my students come from single parent homes with low socioeconomic backgrounds making it difficult to obtain funds to provide hands-on activities for my students.

My Project

My students need Reflection, Refraction and Diffraction materials to investigate science through inquiry learning. A second set, Matter IIm will help them understand physical and chemical properties. Using the hands-on materials provided in the Matter II kit, the students will gain a greater understanding of the physical and chemical properties of matter. The students will be able to differentiate between physical and chemical changes. The Reflection, Refraction, Diffraction Kit covers all the educational objectives for light covered at the Fifth Grade level.

These students are at a critical time in their development, mentally and physically.

Allowing students to participate in the learning through hands-on activities will pique their interest in science. Perhaps one of these students will go on to become a great inventor.
