My Students
I teach Kindergarten in a small gem of a school in a big underfunded district. More than half of my students are English Language Learners. My students represent many different cultures from around the world, and most are from immigrant families. My families value education and most of my students are coming to school for the first time. Naturally they come everyday eager to learn. I strive to make learning fun and engaging for my students while representing their cultures and diversity, and meeting the needs of ALL of my students.
My Project
My students have such a natural love for learning. Science and Social Studies topics in Kindergarten can be very easily connected to reading. The Let's Find Out magazines have been a great resource for my students in the past. They each get their very own magazine to explore through. It is a great way to introduce them to non-fiction text. The colorful photos and fun activities are a bonus that help motivate them and make it fun to learn.
Let's Find Out magazine gets kindergartners eager to read and learn!
Each issue brings a seasonal science or social studies topic to life with exciting nonfiction and colorful, real-world photos! Using simple, predictable texts, Let’s Find Out also builds fundamental reading skills like concepts of print, sight words, and phonics. Complete with BIG issues, posters, and interactive online features, Let’s Find Out is the most comprehensive and engaging way to build the knowledge and skills my students need most.
