My students need this rug for our whole group learning and modeling instruction. The kids would love the bright colors, numbers, and the letters of the alphabet!

My Students
I will be teaching Kindergarten at an extremely high-poverty school in Middle Tennessee. I teach to many backgrounds including many ESL students, non-English speaking children, homeless students, and many that considered high-at-risk-students.
One of my goals in teaching Kindergarten is to allow students flexible seating throughout the day.
I have students work in groups to allow for collaboration. In order to do that, I want to create a learning space for whole-group learning and as an individual or small group area. I am in need of a rug that not only is inviting to these kindergartners, but incorporates the letters of the alphabet with visual clues.
My Project
The rug that is currently in my new Kindergarten room has been there for almost 20 years! It is time for my students to have a bright new space in which to learn and read with flexible seating.
I believe that my students will be happier and more productive, and also take ownership of the rug and learn to be responsible for personal property.
My class is very excited to see if we will be able to get our project funded! I believe this also teaches my students the importance of having a giving heart, and feeling that intrinsic reward. We would be so excited to receive this new rug!
