Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students in special education need support in learning and developing their skills in responsibility and empathy. My students appreciate opportunities to show their responsibility. Caring for our guinea pigs will help them with this.

Our class guinea pigs, Snickers and Sweetie, were adopted from a local guinea pig sanctuary.

The students will love taking care of the guinea pigs as our classroom pets. Snickers and Sweetie will also help when my students need comfort during a rough time by having calming cuddle time with them.

Through your support of this grant, our classroom will receive the supplies we need to take care of the guinea pigs, including healthy guinea pig pellets, orchard grass (an important part of their diet), enrichment items for the guinea pigs, and items to keep the habitat clean each day.
