Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my third grade classroom are a diverse group of learners. Their individual needs and learning styles are what drives my instruction and fuels my love of teaching. Their learning styles is also what drives me to meet their individual needs and to continue providing the tools they need to be successful. My students range in a variety of learning styles such as being gifted and talented, kinesthetic, visual, and all desire to learn. My school is Title 1 school, which means that more that half of the student population is on free and reduced lunch. Kayla Delzer stated, "If student motivation and higher engagement is truly the desired end game, then we as teachers must adapt right along with our students in our classrooms." The students in my classroom are full of energy and have a strong desire to learn. Their individual learning needs make each student a unique individual in our classroom learning environment.

The most powerful tools for learning are the ones students love to use, something magical happens when you put tools needed in the hands of students engaged and excited to learn.

My Project

My third grade students are a unique and diverse group of learners. In my math and science classroom, I strive to allow my students to connect the science and math concepts we are learning to real world aspects. Through hands-on, STEM based activities, and math manipulatives, my students will be provided opportunity to enhance their skills while working collaboratively with peers. After all, the future of the world is in my classroom.

I want my students to have opportunity to design, build, test, and refine their creations through student led activities.

The Breakout kits, Gears and other building materials will foster the learning environment of my students in so many ways. Vocabulary, problem solving, critical thinking skills, and application of content are a few of the areas that will be enhanced through these activities.
