Learning Our Way Through First Grade With iPads

My students need two Apple iPad Minis and protective cases to enhance learning in our first grade classroom.

My Students

I teach an awesome group of first graders. My students are eager to learn all they possibly can. It is my desire, as their teacher, to make sure that my students have everything possible to help them be productive and successful learners in the classroom.

My students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and family structures.

Many of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Technology is very limited for a large number of students. Many of the students do not have a computer at home. The classroom is the only place where many of these eager learners have access to technology. My school has a very caring and supportive administration. However, due to the multitude of budget cuts, it is becoming more difficult to meet the needs of my students.

My Project

My students will use the iPads to practice reading and math skills. The students will have access to online books and a variety of reading and math games. Students will be able to work on specific skills at their own pace. The use of iPads will allow me to reteach and enrich as needed. The daily use of iPads will allow learning to come to life for my students. The students will be able to explore learning beyond the classroom.
