My 18 first graders surprise me everyday as more and more of their personalities and interests unfold before my eyes. They love to create, build, and dig deep into their interests.
My students are doers, creators, laugh-makers, and idea-builders.
They think outside the box, and, often times, even surprise me with their ideas. Their inquisitive nature and imagination are just a few of the many reasons why teaching them is one of the greatest blessings in my life.
My students live and attend school in a low income/high poverty area, and 100% of them receive free breakfast and lunch at school each day. Even though many of them face challenges I couldn't imagine facing myself, they never give up They do they best they can at that time. My goal, as their teacher. is to instill in them the truth that they are capable of doing difficult things and to never give up!
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my classroom by supporting students in a physical way. Just like adults, children experience good days, bad days, good moods, bad moods, and everything between. I know we all experience days where we just can't fathom sitting at a desk all day, or driving in a car for our long commute. Children have their own set of emotions, challenges, and individual needs. In order for us as adults to do our best, we need to be flexible and choose what's best for us at that time. Children are no different! These flexible seating options will provide my first graders with the comfort of what they need to be successful on any given day.
Desk chairs and tables serve us best on our best days, but not everyday is our best day.
