Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The school I teach at in the South Bronx, of NYC, is currently closed like most of the schools around the country are. Our school, is located in District 7, and it is considered the most impoverished community in the entire United States! School, is where most of our children rely on for their meals, and access to materials for learning, (that they may not have at home).
When our world was turned upside down by this pandemic, our school collected all of our lap tops and tablets, to distribute them to the families, to enable them to begin the online learning process.
The staff at our school is constantly reaching out to our families, sharing resources, giving information on where to get food, and anything we can do!
My Project
The use of a tripod will help me to record myself teaching lessons, for the students to watch, pause, and watch again, if needed. Seeing each other live during video chats, are the closest thing we have to being together in the classroom. We are able to discuss questions, do live lessons, and just talk about how we all are feeling etc. with the help of a webcam.
The school staff are trying to keep as many things as similar as possible during these uncertain times!
