My Students

Think about how often we use our technology to get through the day. Our world is full of technological resources, and our students need exposure and practice to become successful participants of today's world.

My students are the most loving, enthusiastic learners I've ever had.

Most of them come from disadvantaged homes, both socio-economically, and emotional well-being. Many have single parents or foster parents that struggle to feed and clothe their children adequately. Our classroom is often the most stable, positive force in their lives, and it shows by how eager they are to come to school! My class is inclusion, so several of my students have special needs. This means I make even more of an effort to provide learning in a variety of ways and strategies. The students are all helpful and accepting of each other’s differences. Because they are all too familiar with life's difficulties, they are sensitive and compassionate with one another, helping to create an environment that is warm, loving, and safe. Our school strives to meet the needs of these children, and the students are strong and resilient! However, every bit of support helps to provide for their education and success in life.

My Project

Computers make so many resources available to everyone! With more laptops, more students will have access to the learning and technology that has become so important in today's world. There are countless online resources that provide literacy intervention, keyboard and typing practice,computer skills, mathematical and higher level thinking skills, and even current computer test-taking skills. If students have the opportunity to work independently on laptops, I will be able to meet more needs in small differentiated groups. Students can have access to fun, educational computer programs, creating an actively engaged classroom that multi-tasks on several different learning activities at once. Not only is this exciting, it also helps children to be effectively prepared for our rapidly changing environment. As they continue their education, they will continue to change and adapt to more advanced technology, in part due to the beneficial support received in elementary school!

We need laptops for learning!

My students are intelligent and eager to learn! They deserve to have the same opportunities for learning as any other children that happen to have more advantages. It is wonderful programs like Donors Choose that make this possible and evens out the world for all students. You will be helping our children have access to the world of technology that they wouldn't have otherwise, and that is crucial. You can have an impact on their perspective of today's world!
