My students come to school needing more than just an education. To my students I am a teacher, mother, counselor, nurse, and coach. My students look at our school as their safe place. I teach at a Title I school in Alabama where one hundred percent of our students are on free breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Our students come to school with experiences I would never wish upon anyone.
It is amazing what most of them have gone through at such a young age. We supply clothes, food, and support to a great portion of our families. My goal is to make school as exciting and as engaging as possible to give these precious babies relief from their lives outside of school. It is amazing how they become your own. We have taught each other so much, and I wouldn't trade a moment of my time with them!
My Project
I am looking for things to make learning fun and engaging! I want to incorporate things that kids want to use and do- things that they will remember and want to all about! Vocabulary is a huge focus for us right now and I want to incorporate a fun area with sensory things where they can practice writing and play vocabulary games. I can’t continue to ask my students to sit in a desk all day and remember everything I am teaching unless I can make it engaging and a place that they want to be. Please help make our classroom a place they will remember forever!
