My low socio-economic students are soaring in the classroom and need to grow outside too! I have a combined class of students having English as their first language and English Second Language learners as well as those with special learning needs. Many of my students have never experienced the joys of a good book and a percentage of family members who have never completed high school. My school is involved in a federal program that provides all students with free breakfast and lunch as the largest percentage are already free or reduced meals.
My Project
Technology is the new hot ticket in providing individualized education to meet individuals needs but having several iPads going at one time can be a distraction to other learners.
The constant noise of various educational applications going at once on the iPads can cause other students to lose focus, especially when I am teaching a small group.
They are unable to give their full attention to the skills I am teaching. The noise also distracts me from giving those students working with me my full focus. Additionally, students are not on the same sections of the educational applications and therefore becoming interested in another students work and reducing the personalized learning of their app.
Headphones would cut down on the noise pollution of the classroom. They would allow all children to focus on their personalized task, on lessons I am teaching in the classroom and the decrease in noise would allow a more serence environment condusive to learning!
