Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Three quarters of my students are from low income households. They come into school every day with the passion to learn and discover a world of learning every day with hopes of someday being the best and brightest readers in the school and to become the world's savviest mathematicians. My students have a thirst for reading and writing and don't have always have access to high quality books at home. They enjoy being read to, sharing in the reading, and creating their own books. There is a world of learning that my students are excited to join in everyday in our kindergarten class.
My Project
I have thoughtfully picked the items in this project to: 1) Help students in my class NOT TO WORRY whether parents are able to provide basic classroom supplies. 2) Finish building math bags which the students will use both in class and at home. These bags will be something the students can call their own, and the bags will help provide students with learning opportunities through hands-on work and games. 3) Help build our classroom library. Many of the children I work with do not have much exposure to literature at home, so I would like the children in my class to get a diverse and enjoyable experience when it comes to our read out loud times and class library. 4) Help create success for our children during small group learning times. The Osmo Genius Kits will allow my students to work on tablets in small groups to strengthen their literacy and math skills while allowing them to work independently at their own level and pace. The amazing genius kits will help the students learn and retain information through the stimulation of their senses while in class. 5) One more fire tablet will allow 5 students to work independently during a listening center or osmo station 6) Help students stimulate their learning using hands-on exciting manipulatives that stimulate their senses. The sand and rocks can be utilized in countless ways for exactly this. The manipulatives, rocks, games, and 3D shapes kits will help with this. 7) Lastly, I want the kids in my class to have fun! I want them to feel like someone thought enough about them and their future to build a world within the classroom where they can thrive, dream, and grow. THE FUTURE IS THEIRS, and THEY ARE OUR FUTURE.
