My students are very energetic and enthusiastic children from many cultures. They are from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures. They have formed a "family" within our classroom. They do not exclude anyone, no matter who they are. They are full of wonder for everything around them. They have deep thoughts about every aspect of their lives and are open to new ideas. They laugh, sing, and enjoy anything that they can do with their hands!
They love receiving praise for anything, no matter how small it may seem.
They enjoy helping others and are more than willing to do so. Our school is in a high-poverty area, and we are in a small town near an Indian reservation.
My Project
Children can learn a lot by looking closer at the past. There are a variety of materials available on Teachers Pay Teachers that focus on the history of the United States and the history of New Mexico. These materials will help my students to realize that the individuals who shaped our past were real people with real personalities. They were individuals just like us. By bringing history to life, it will become exciting for my students.
I want my students to understand our past, and where we came from, in hopes that they can better understand where we are now and make positive choices and decisions regarding the future.
They need to understand that the way things are now is a consequence of the things that happened in the past. In turn, they will begin to understand that the way things will be tomorrow will be a consequence of the way the decisions being made now.
