This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher of a wonderful, eager bunch of 5th-grade students. Unfortunately, our school year was cut short due to the Coronavirus. We are currently in our 5th week of distance learning. Most of my students have access to technology through the use of their cell phone but many are unable to complete assignments via online websites because they're not compatible on a phone. Therefore, we have a good number of students who are accessing their work via paper copies that are made available to our families.

My Project

I'm requesting these items so that I can have new books at home to read to my students as well as prepare for their summer learning! We left school without much time to prepare. We didn't expect to be home for the rest of the year. There are some items I could use while at home- for example, a stapler. I would also like to send motivational cards to my students in the mail. I requested a few items to jazz up my home classroom like the Heidi Swapp letters for my light up board. I'm also hoping to make a new message each time we meet on the letterboard to keep the kids interested and motivated! I also requested a paper cutter so that I can prepare some of the materials that are sent home to students. I am preparing end of year gifts for my students and I'd like to personalize their bins with their name written in vinyl, and my cricut mat needs replaced. I'm also planning to pass out pencil bins to a few lucky winners!

My 5th grade students LOVE listening to me read aloud.

I'd love to be able to share new books with them for the remainder of our time together! I've requested a lot of new picture books that I doubt they've ever read as well as a few chapter books!
