This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are all newcomer English Language Learners. They are all part of immigrant and refugee families who have lived in the US for 2 years or less. For the majority of my students, this is the first time they are attending school.

Help my students learn financial literacy skills through play!

These items will help my students practice their financial literacy skills through a real-life experience during play. They can use the play money to purchase items at the grocery store. They can also practice their counting skills and English vocabulary usage as both consumers and store employees. Students can learn to spend--or save--their money on specific items in the store. Overall, these items will help students to further their knowledge in financial literacy at an early age, through an everyday realistic experience.
