This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are second grade, Title 1, low income students who don't have a lot in their lives. 90% of my class are learning English and I learn a lot from them about their cultures and their languages.

My students are eager learners and are so willing to redo work to make sure they are successful.

They pride themselves on their hard work and because they are willing to put in to their own education, they do the best they can. However, we can use some more current non-fiction materials in the class to help us grow in our language and science skills.

My Project

We are lacking up-to-date non-fiction literature in our classroom and it is hard to keep the kids engaged if it's not relevant to them.

We do not have any full class sets of non-fiction materials, so this will help us with our research skills and language skills because we can do both individual and group projects that require research.

The organizer will help us keep our important papers that need to go home together in one spot and we can grab it quickly out the door on the way home, giving us a few minutes more for a quick mini-lesson.
