Learning Chinese Culture in the Kithcen

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Food is the most popular topic in learning Chinese language and culture and also a big part of our curriculum. Same as other culture celebrations, symbolic food is always tied with traditional Chinese holidays. Besides rice, flour is also a very popular ingredient of Chinese people's food.

With the flour, yeast, and steampot you donated, our students will have a chance to make their first steamed buns in our school kitchen.

The collabration with our culinary teacher allows world language students to learn life skills of cooking authentic Chinese traditional food. Steampot will be able to serve at least 10 more years for our current and future students.

Students have tried the food when we celebrated the biggest Chinese traditional festival in classroom. With your generosity, students will be able to put their hands on the flour and make their own steamed buns. They will learn all the vocabulary along the way. Making food is alway a social emotional learning path for all students to sharpen their life skills.
