This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are preschoolers ages 3-5, nonverbal, and have special needs. My class is a preschool disabled class so each student has a different need and no specific diagnosis. Last year was my first time working in a PSD class and the students were amazing. Some of them began to speak a little by the end of the year and others started using gestures.
My students enjoy being challenged and push to try even when they get it right the first time.
I want my students to become even more verbal this year than they did last year and provide them with even more learning experiences to help them to become mainstreamed or gain a specific diagnosis.
My Project
The iPad will serve as a secondary method to enhance their learning. The various apps can assist in strengthening their literacy and math development. It will also help to strengthen their fine motor skills. After they have finished their work they can get 20 minutes a day on approved apps. It will also be used to assess what they have learned in class through various apps that correspond to the class lessons being taught. They will also use it in teams to help increase sharing and helping one another. The iPad will be a wonderful learning addition to the class.
