This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students and the surrounding community are labeled Title I, low socio-economic. We have a diverse population (with a higher number of Hispanic students) who ALL receive free breakfast daily.
5th grade is departmentalized, so I am fortunate to teach 64 determined, vivacious, and compassionate 5th graders.
These kiddos have been through so much and have had difficult home situations, yet they are in school every day ready and eager to learn and do better.
They all come with different skills and it would be amazing to see them transcend not only in, but out of the classroom.
My Project
My school and the surrounding families we serve come from a low socio-economic background. Because of this it is not always easy to come across new technology or resources for our students.
Technology has become the basis of which the world today revolves around.
Our students are growing up in a society where it is essential to learn the ins and outs of technology. This is why I am asking for two Apple iPads, in order to provide my students with useful technology practice. With this technology, their lessons can be given through online means, and the students can also broaden the way in which they present their work. They can play around with iMovie or create a PowerPoint with their ideas. This not only helps with becoming tech-savvy, but also taps into their likes and their needs to become successful.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
