My Students

My special needs students come from caring, hard-working, low-income families. Each of my eight students have challenges that make learning difficult- but not impossible- as they are eager to learn and also hardworking!

When learning in our cozy classroom the paraprofessionals and myself ensure that we use a variety of supports to encourage and build confidence in our students.

Although we have developed a remote learning schedule and routine, my students are without many of the supports that make them successful learners every day in school.

My Project

Most of my students are emergent readers and writers. Writing materials are needed for them to reinforce skills introduced at school.

My students will also need fun and engaging activity books to reinforce what they have learned in school -in math and reading.

Because students with special needs have difficulty processing and retaining new information we need to be mindful of using materials that are fun, engaging, colorful, easy to manipulate, safe, and educational! My students are eager learners while in school; however, these last 6 weeks have been especially difficult for them as they have lost structure and consistency.
