This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

A quest to build the world's largest tetrahedron, doubling grains of rice to outwit a greedy raja, and Sir Cumference's journey to find the magic number that is the same for all circles ... are just three of the stories I hope my 7th graders will fall in love with this year!

The goal of this project is to engage students with math through another lens - literature!

Help provide a bunch intriguing math books - chapter books, picture books, riddles & reference books - so students can have a variety of ways to access middle grades math content. These books cover many 7th grade mathematical topics or critical foundational math skills in a new way. I hope to see this as a regular math "center" during our workshop time in class. Giving kids a chance to fall in love with reading and math - what could be better than that!
