My first grade students are full of energy with a strong desire to learn and read. We live in three small, rural communities that combine to make our school district. Our elementary school is a small district with approximately 200 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
These special first grade students love to learn through activities that are fun, yet focus on the skills that we need to master in first grade.
Six and seven-year-olds have the enthusiasm and energy to make any type of learning fun.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) have become a vital part of the science curriculum. The new science standards are focused on this idea. They encourage all classrooms to become more hands-on learning.
Young students need the opportunity to explore and experiment.
The LEGO Simple Machine kits provide the materials for my first graders to do just that. Through building and exploring with the gears, levers, pulleys and wheels and axles they will become engage and excited about learning. The kits include lesson plan ideas to help integrate them into my current science instruction.
These LEGO kits are a perfect combination of learning and fun to inspire all your engineers!
