Next school year, 2025-2026, I will be teaching an elective based on what used to be called "Home Ec." I will teach students how to cook, bake, and prepare a variety of ethnic dishes. I will also teach them about financial literacy through a combination of lectures and games.
Students often do not realize they are learning when playing games.
With the games I am requesting, students will work with their classmates to explore various professions, salaries, housing costs, monthly bills, investing, and other related concepts.
In addition to learning about the above concepts, students will also develop team-building skills, which will enhance their ability to work effectively in the kitchen.
