This is my sixth year teaching second graders. I strive to have an inspiring classroom. I want my students to look forward to coming to school.
My students are very excited to be in person this year.
My second graders have never had a “normal” school year. My classroom is made up of diverse learners and I love that! The books I have selected reflect different cultures.
I want to be able to have a collection of books about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and this project will begin the collection for my classroom library.
My Project
These books will be added to our classroom library. We will create a bin of all of these books so students can learn about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. using a variety of resources.
Children will have access to these books throughout the school year not just in January.
Currently, we are learning to read non-fiction books and write about nonfiction topics. These books will be used as mentor texts to support their learning.
My students will be able to choose these books regardless of reading ability level, sometimes children will select a book that is too hard to read however, it is the illustrations that draw them to the books and they can learn a lot from the illustrations.
