Learning About Buildings With the Three Little Pigs

My Students

I have taught at a wonderfully diverse Title I elementary school in Washington, DC for the past 6 years, and many of my preschool students are unable to afford some of the things that they need to learn and grow.

My students and their families bring so much joy and laughter to my life every day.

Because some of my preschoolers enter the classroom without any previous exposure to a school setting, I want to provide them with fun and meaningful learning experiences as they learn to love school, preparing for Pre-Kindergarten and beyond!

My Project

These materials will help my preschool students engage with our upcoming study of buildings. The "study" is used as a framework to capture the imaginations of students as they develop their literacy, math, language, & fine-motor skills.

I am most excited to watch my students use these authentic materials to reenact various versions of The Three Little Pigs, further strengthening their reading comprehension, as well as their fine-motor and language skills.

I know my students will love the opportunity to explore real structures and experiment with the ways in which they are built, how they might collapse, and how we can make them stronger. With these other engaging, literacy-based materials, my students will develop the necessary skills as we prepare them for Pre-Kindergarten.
