My students need to work on their fine motor skills and practice tying their shoes, a lifelong skill needed. The shoe tying practice boards will work great for a P.E. center, following along a tutorial video.
My school is a Title One school with majority low-income students. We are racially and economically diverse, as well as having almost 20% students receiving special education services. We work very hard to accommodate and include all our special learners and find ways to teach outside the box. Our students are eager to learn, eager to grow, and eager to be successful! We have a high transfer population which means families are CHOOSING to be a part of our awesome school!
Do you remember when YOU learned to tie your shoes?! It's such an amazing accomplishment! These days many shoes have velcro and zippers, so my students need additional practice and resources tying laces. Being able to tie your shoes is something everyone needs to learn and practice. It involves fine motor skills and is a skill needed for a lifetime.
Learning to tie shoes is something students will need for their lifetime, and this project will give students a chance to practice with the boards while following along to an instructional video being projected for them during different skill units and centers.
