My students need individual copies of Gregor the Overlander to support our LOVE of reading in our classroom, while we study the fantasy genre and ties to mythology!

My Students

My job as a teacher is to encourage a LOVE of learning and reading in my students. My job is to raise a generation of capable students who will be kind and meaningful members of society one day. My students are well on their way, but there's still so much work to be done in my classroom!

I teach the most rambunctious, hilarious, sweet, smart, talented, crazy 3rd graders that you'd ever want to meet!

I want these kiddos to love school just as much as I did when I was younger, so my goal is to create a classroom space that is RICH with literature and cozy reading nooks that will engage and inspire them to love school and to love reading!

My Project

The book, Gregor the Overlander, is a fantastical adventure book, with ties to Greek Mythology. My students are always captivated by this story and listen, on the edges of their seats, as the story unfolds. This year, I would like each of my students to be able to have a tangible copy in his/her hands in order to be fully immersed in the book. I plan to use this as a basis for my literature instruction, rather than working solely from a basal.

I want my students to learn a LOVE of pure, actual reading again!

By having copies of these books, in order to engage in group work and collaborative reading opportunities, I believe they truly will LOVE their time, engrossed in this story!
