This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Learning science is a very visual experience as there are many diagrams and cycles to understand. Allowing students the chance to create their own, helps them learn the content more easily. It also makes it easier for them to share information with each other if they get the time to create posters and visuals to help them. Students often feel nervous about presenting for the class. However, if they are confident in what they have made and they have the resources to create something nice, they will have more pride in their work. This will make it less scary as they share with their peers.

I regularly have my students create posters in order to teach each other what they have learned through presentations and lessons.

COVID-19 made it hard for students to get that in-person feel when presenting to peers, as they did most of this on their devices. I want to make sure the students get time away from their screens to learn and process information.

Creating posters and diagrams in groups gives the students a chance to help each other learn. I also think it is important for them to learn to speak in front of others at a young age. I try to make this a regular activity in my classroom.
