My Project

I work at a very unique school where students are both high school and college students. They take two to three high school courses, but the remainder of their schedules are comprised of actual college classes with actual college students. Intellectually, they are quite ready for the transition to college, but emotionally, this is a big jump that many students struggle with. They aren't always prepared for the stress and anxiety that comes with taking college classes.

Sometimes, stress management just takes a few minutes to color in a coloring book.

Some other popular stress management tools are Zen gardens, kinetic sand, and fidget tools. Other times, stress management takes short term counseling, using tools like journaling, retraining their brains to think differently, and talking about what they're struggling with. Still other times, students just need a quick reminder that they are capable, like with a sticker.

It's difficult to ask for help, so I strive to keep my office as welcoming and organized as possible. Using the three tier tray will allow the stress management tools, such as the stress ball stars, calming sounds machine, and other tools on their own, supporting individual motivation.
