My Students

My students are full of life five and six-year-olds. They are little sponges soaking in anything and everything. They love center time and enjoy learning to read and write. Every day in our classroom is an adventure.

They are our future, and it is an honor and privilege to get to have an impact on our future.

I hope to instill in them not only the material but so much more than that. Things such as--them having confidence in themselves, knowing how to handle frustrations, problem solving skills, kindness, etc. The list is truly endless.

Teaching can be a challenge but it is so rewarding. I love seeing a face when they understand a new skill, when they learn to read, or even just when they have confidence in themselves. I try to provide a positive classroom environment with as many technologies and manipulatives as possible. There are all different types of learners visual, auditory, etc. so I like to try to have the materials to appeal to all types of learners.

My Project

These materials would help tremendously improve my students reading abilities and math skills. It will give them fun ways to practice skills while also teaching them about communication and working in a group. I would set up daily centers that they would rotate throughout the week.

Essential skills in Kindergarten are CVC words, phoneme segmentation, and sight words just to name a few.

They love learning using different games and I love to change up the options they have to learn.

I would sometimes group my students by their strengths and weaknesses. Other times, I would mix them with each other. I want them to grow as much as possible.
