This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are a Title I public school in Virginia that welcomes many newcomers. The students come from different countries and speak many languages, but most speak Spanish. These students are of different ages and intelligences and work very hard. They are at a disadvantage to other students because they need to learn English quickly. We need various materials to support students in learning English. This material will be used in centers where the students can work at their own pace and at an English level. The other materials are visuals to help the students connect English words with vocabulary they already know. There is a rigorous curriculum to teach, and these emergent bilinguals have to learn English outside of the curriculum. These materials will help them understand the language quicker on their own.
