My students attend a middle school in an area with a high poverty rate. Therefore, I work as hard as I can to make school a safe and exciting learning space for my students. I am always trying to learn about the newest technologies and ways to engage my students.
I love that my students can teach me as much as I can teach them.
All of my students come from different backgrounds and cultures and they find a way to teach me something new every day. I also work with many students who have special learning needs. Many of the students look forward to school every day, knowing that it is a safe place where they are loved and cared for by the adults in the building. The students know it is a place to take risks, be challenged, and grow and learn.
My Project
I am requesting the opportunity to attend a professional development conference virtually that specializes in all aspects of Special Education. This conference will give me new strategies for teaching my students with disabilities that I can implement in my classroom. One of the best ways to learn is from others. This conference will give me the opportunity to gain new knowledge to best serve my students. The knowledge I can gain from this experience will benefit my students this year and for the many years to come. This conference is online this year and I will be able to access over 700 recorded sessions, over a two month time span. This will give me plenty of opportunities and time to learn new strategies, try them out with my students, and reflect on other strategies I can use.
The knowledge and best practices gained from this unique virtual conference will directly impact my students now and in years to come.
I will also be able to bring the knowledge from the conference back to my colleagues so everyone in my school community can benefit from it. This conference will allow me to add to my toolbox of strategies for my students with disabilities and teach me more best practices to use with my students.
