My Students

Sweat and hard work are what you'll see on our lacrosse field. Players persevere through adversity as they learn the game years after other opponents, but our success and confidence suffer with this gap. I want to give girls the opportunity to learn this dynamic and growing game earlier.

My girls are a very diverse group in one of the most diverse cities in the state!

They are self and peer motivated individuals who are picking up a game at a late age in comparison to other surrounding towns. Lacrosse is a game that is tough to learn both because it's different than all other sports in the way it's played and the skills are difficult. Many girls don't even hear about lacrosse until high school. The ability to play it requires the money to buy the equipment, which is just out of the question for many of our families. I am working to change the communication gap but need help to make it happen.

My Project

We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to have our first project funded! Over 30 girls came to learn the sport of lacrosse, and some were awarded their stick as a prize to go home with. So, needless to say, we will need more equipment to continue spreading the sport in the same way. I have a camp scheduled this summer to reach even more kids! I'm so excited!

The lacrosse sticks, balls, cones, and pinnies will give girls in our city an opportunity to learn how to play lacrosse.

The inability to buy expensive lacrosse equipment is a deterrent for participation. This project takes the money out of the decision.
