I am an energetic science and history teacher, who is always trying to enhance my students' learning experience while at school! I teach an average of seventy students each school year, however we have just over 450 students in our building throughout pre-k to 5th grade. We are located in a primarily low-income, rural area of our state, with around eighty-five percent of our students riding a bus to school on the long, back country roads. We also have a high percentage of students on our free or reduced-price lunch program.
Parents work hard, but sometimes need a little extra help.
Sometimes families need a little extra help with supplies for them and their houses.
My Project
Our school has students and families who are in need of essential hygiene materials. We have students who need deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, and tooth brushes at their homes. Many parents work more than one job, however, the second job is still not enough to support a family and their needs.
We would love to restock our supply of essentials, along with laundry detergent pods.
These items would help students be more confident of themselves. Bullying is a major problem in the world today and if we can help a student who does not have access to a washer and dryer have clean clothes while at school, then we would love to provide that.
