My Project

Our school library is creating within its walls a Makerspace. A makerspace is a place for students and teachers to think creatively and logically, get crafty, get artsy, get techie, and get innovative! The Makerspace provides the space, the supplies, and the equipment to make whatever a student sets their brain to make. In utilizing a Makerspace students (and teachers) can stretch their learning, and bring their ideas to life. The THMS Library would like to add a Glowforge to the Makerspace. A Glowforge Laser Cutter and Engraver will allow students to take their artwork and designs and create useful decorated objects. Using a Glowforge will teach students new design skills which are transferrable to other aspects of their lives. Graphic design is an up-and-coming field in which our students have a lot of interest. Also, a Glowforge can be used to create sellable items which could be designed by students and sold for fundraising for various projects and groups at THMS. The possibilities are endless!
