Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
One hundred percent of my students are Native American, living in a low-income community. Teachers at my school provide student curriculum incorporating the Native American culture and provide guidance to succeed in our modern technology-driven society. The goal is to ensure students will become productive and contributing citizens in their own unique ways.
Wisdom is the cornerstone on which our educational system is built and shall serve as the guiding light as we prepare our students for the future of technology.
Preparing students for life beyond high school is crucial, especially when living in a rural area where resources and access to technology is limited. Students face home-life challenges daily and look at school as a positive, safe place to be. Creating stimulating classroom activities improves attendance rates as students are eager to be at school and engage in fun learning experiences.
My Project
My students are expanding their technological skills and need a laser engraver to actively use technology and discover the world of cutting and engraving. Science is everywhere in the world around us and technology is continuously expanding into every aspect of our lives! Using STEAM skills to design products encourages innovation, and gets kids to ponder ideas like physics and shape in a practical, hands-on way.
Programming the laser engraver will help students use computational thinking which is the process of breaking down difficult problems into small pieces in order to find a solution that a computer can understand.
Having this laser engraver will allow students to download the apps they need to control the robot. Interacting through technology can help students strengthen school relationships and build strong bonds as they work together to solve problems. These activities will give students the opportunity to step outside of their comfort zones, boost their morale, and improve leadership and teamwork skills.
