My Students

I actually work at two different schools in Long Beach, CA. Both schools are filled with amazing students, with a thirst for learning. The schools have put an emphasis on STEM and STEAM activities as a part of their educational day. A majority of my students come from socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Despite their lower socioeconomic status, my students vigorously work to raise money for those less fortunate than themselves.

They have raised money for children in Haiti, Africa, and people in our own city. Their hearts are large and their minds are expanding by the hour.

My Project

Our sweet Dewey has been growing this passed year and a half! She is looking a little cramped in her 20gal tank so we think it is time to move her up to the big time.

Dewey is an adult lizard now and needs room to stretch her lovely lizard legs.

The requested tank and materials will allow for Dewey to move around more comfortably and give students a more easy way to access her. Currently, her tank opens from the top, but this tank opens from the side, making student care more of an option.

With the thermometer, students can monitor her habitat. The stones and hammock will allow students to design the ideal living space. The harness will make it possible for me to take Dewey out more often without fear of her getting lost.
