My students need Apple TV and a large screen TV to act as a monitor so that they can project their work from their iPads.

My Students
Technology is changing the face of education, not by just replacing old ways of doing things, but by transforming what is possible. My students this year will each have access to an iPad to support their learning in all subject areas. Yet we don't want to lose the community aspect of learning.
My students are a very diverse group.
They come from numerous countries, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds. About a fourth of them are first or second generation Americans, and about a third are in families that struggle with poverty. Reading levels range from first to tenth grade. With their different learning styles, I am challenged to meet all students' needs while still addressing curriculum guidelines. A one-size-fits-all program cannot meet their needs.
This coming year, for the first time, all students in my classroom will have access to an iPad as a learning tool. In the past, even with only a few, my students have used them as research tools, references, writing and editing tools. The iPads have also been used to access a variety of apps for math, word work, and creating presentations. My students are eager learners! Because there will now be an iPad for every student, I want to be able to have students easily share their work and continue rich discussions around ideas.
My Project
With the Apple TV and 55 inch screen, students will be able to project the work they are doing on the small screen onto a much larger screen. This will allow students to discuss strategies they have written on a presentation app in math, demonstrate the problem solving involved in a physics app, share presentations they have made around breaking words down into their parts, discuss and edit writing as a group on Google docs, or watch a video on the rock cycle together with the ability to pause and re-watch parts. I am sure we, both me and my students, will discover many other uses as we begin to try out new things as learners.
Learning is a social process, and I want to ensure that the use of the new devices does not remove that aspect from my classroom.
My students need to be able to see what others are doing in order to discuss and learn from each other. The access to this technology will allow our classroom as a group to really take advantage of the power of the technology in their hands.
