I work at a year-round, special education school, serving emotionally disturbed, learning disabled, and other special education classified students. Our students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds in New York City. Over 95% of the student body is eligible for free lunch, and more than 90% receive public assistance.
My students have exceptional abilities, and with the proper accommodations and modifications, they truly thrive in our school setting.
These kids are afforded smaller classroom ratios, personalized attention, and a myriad of specially certified providers that assist in their overall development.
My Project
I am requesting ten laptop computers to support my students with remote learning. We have been fortunate to keep our school open this year, but many students are still working from home because of the pandemic. Many students have underlying health issues, live with elderly grandparents, or just feel unsafe coming to school at this time.
My students need these laptops in order to have reliable technology for learning at home.
Due to the high poverty levels in our school, many students are lacking the basic tool needed this year -- a reliable laptop. These ten computers will be a great start for our neediest students. Thank you so much for considering a donation.
