Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have gifted and talented 6th and 8th graders this school year who crave the extra challenge to reach their potential in my classroom.
I would like to support them by providing them with the resources that are lacking in my classroom.
My students are curious and motivated learners. They come from very diverse cultural backgrounds, and many are receiving free or reduced-price lunches. I would like to foster their engineering problem-solving skills to be competitive at the national level and to prepare them for college and their career as well.
My students will explore and develop STEM solutions to real-world problems. They need laptops in order to code MBots and Micro Bit controllers with sensors. They will also use CAD software for 3D printing. They will apply their problem-solving and critical thinking skills by creating engineering and coding projects with practical applications.
I am fortunate to teach a group of passionate young minds that are full of potential.
However, several of them are being presented with challenges in life and are in need of extra support and encouragement. They are in need of engaging and thought-provoking activities. I am hoping that with the added technology in the classroom, I will be able to motivate students further, build their confidence, and increase their learning.
