My Students

My students are trying to get college ready in rural Southwest Minnesota. They are embarking on a quest to comprehend statistics at a college level. They are hard-working and want to succeed on their chosen career paths. For most of them, this is a step on their way to success.

They have hopes and dreams and are trying to earn college credit during high school to get a good start on their path to success.

These students have life goals that are not science/math based. Their dreams lie in other fields. However, they need math credits to reach their goals. They take this difficult statistics class to try and take another successful step towards their goals.

My Project

Statistics is a difficult subject for high school students. Through group work, they collaboratively solve statistical problems to gain understanding. They apply the ideas on a daily basis by using computer software to analyze data, run simulations and make real-life decisions.

Through the use of technology, we can put students into real-life scenarios that statistics can help solve and analyze.

Having the laptops in the room allow our students to implement the curriculum in the way it was designed to be used. It will enhance their learning, understanding, and applications of statistics which will hopefully carry forward to their careers and lives.
