Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fifth graders are an amazing group of students who love learning. They are eager to gather knowledge and love challenging themselves.
Most of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Even though their living conditions are meager and trying, these loving students come to school enthusiastic and hungry for learning. I love having these wide-eyed learners come into my classroom clamoring to absorb and master scientific concepts. Seeing their wide grins during "aha" moments is a joy to observe!
Technology is the gateway for these students to explore the world around them and open their minds to new experiences in education.
My Project
Students will use these laptops to enhance classroom learning, and allow all students to enjoy fifth grade science topics. These learners will discover “What is Science”, utilize the engineering process, understand “The Water Cycle”, compare and contrast basic properties of solids, liquids, and gases, and understand why energy is needed to move objects. Also, learners will see how engineers help design and test devices to make them safer. Students will “meet” “Environmental Detectives” who study links between the environment and people, as well as, two other scientists who study how bird beaks change over time.
