Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in Kindergarten and first grade, in a self-contained, special needs class. My students have autism, sensory disorders, learning disabilities, and speech and language impairments. We are struggling academically, socially, and emotionally, but are always striving to do our best and show how much progress we can and will make.

My students are trying their best to work together with partners, in small groups, and to stay attentive in order to learn new material.

As a whole, my class is performing far below grade-level, and it is my goal to help them achieve big things this year!

My Project

This project requesting Dell laptops will help me reach my goal to boost confidence and self-esteem in my kids so they can always be proud of their achievements. I want to use their love of technology to help maximize learning and progress. We have a few computers and tablets now, but these additional Dell Laptops will allow for half of my class to be using technology to meet individual needs, while working with the other half in small groups. This is imperative in a mixed grade, mixed level class.

Having my students make the most progress and meet academic goals will allow them to be active participants in the school and, later, in life.

Using these laptops, my students can work on various learning programs that meet their individual needs, such as iReady, Raz-Kids, Happy Numbers, Teach Your Monster to Read, and many more.

I am hoping that with these Dell laptops, students can work collaboratively to complete STEAM projects, learn turn taking and the proper way to share, win, lose, compromise, and negotiate equitably through online games, and most importantly, use each other's strengths in using technology to learn from each other.
